Headshots are when we keep the camera close up, usually from the shoulders up. There is more likely a professional representation of yourself. I could mean as well to create a specific mood or feel in it. In this type of photograph there is as well the possibility to have more elements in the entire scene. In any case it could even reach different lighting such as working with shadowed highlights to even narrow more down the first viewpoint of the photograph. Most at the time you will look directly in the camera, but as we said, there is lots of room for being creative in the " small " frame. Like a gradient in the background caused by light and difference of colors.

In short : Headshots are more used for professional representation but not limited to personal. Who doesn’t like to have a headshot of themselves.

Portraits are the more creative way of you, more about telling a story. Portraits have more often a complex and dramatic lighting to the person and sometimes even to the background in the photograph. There are a few more lights sometimes necessary depending on the mood or style we want to create, as we call it bending the light around you. It could mean from a headlight to a fall of light.

A portrait can go up to 3/4 or the entire body, this gives you the flexibility to use your hands as well if you want to undertone certain activities. Working with shadows and highlights has a way wider range, rather in headshots.

In short : Portraits are more used for storytelling, but you set your imagination free, and everything is possible

Please bring a variety of looks ( outfits), the priority is something where you feel comfortable in. It is absolutely o.k if you even layer some clothing. Suggest a few different type of styles and cuts. Regardless of the season of the year, this gives you a good range of variety. You can bring jewelry such as earrings, necklace, bracelets or watches if you like, but keep them to a minimum. If you wear glasses and maybe have a few different pairs take them with you. If you went out and got a new piece, but not sure if it will be good for the session, leave the tags on, in case you wanna return it.

If there are a few wrinkles, no worries we have a small steamer here to get rid of them easily. Yes, you can bring someone with you, sometimes we need another pair of eyes or some support, everyone is always welcome.

If you have a disability, please let the photographer Torsten know, he is certified trained by the German Johanniter Unfallhilfe ( compared to the red cross ) in order to assist you in any way.

It is O.K. if you are nervous, many are. But we definitely do everything and even beyond to reduce it if you are. We will guide you with posing positions, clothing choices and look in any way we can assist you. So don't feel lost, we all have been there before. Have a cup of coffee tea or water on us, even during the session you can take a break if you like. There is no pressure or anything like that, but we know you feel maybe like you wanna give everything and we totally understand that this could build up some pressure. Don't worry, Torsten Glaenzel has multiple years of experience working in the industry and as understanding human beings we are working with you together on this. Guaranteed.

During the session you change your outfits and maybe some makeup, we will determine together while we go with what would work the best for you and what style of images you like, would fit or you personally desire to do. There is always communication, what is very important. You are in control of what you want and we are going to achieve this together.

Women makeup:

Most people prefer to bring their own, makeup and wardrobe people. Please take in consideration that the light possibly changes it how you see it.

Women hair :

If possible please come with your hair ready, this saves a huge amount of time for you. As well we want you with your hair as it looks on your best day, so be natural. If you like please feel free to bring your own hair stylist with you like most do.

Men makeup:

Feel free to bring your own makeup artist what, could be your friend, partner, girlfriend, wife or professional one

Facial hair :

Whatever you like, be wild, be styled or groomed. This is entirely up to you.

When you attempt your session with a pet, the rules / fees apply like any other session. Please take in consideration to keep the pet to a normal size like you have it in your home, as much as we would like to welcome a elephant or horse, we definitely don’t have the space for it, but would absolutely come out to your place and take the images on location if you want. SERIOUSLY. Please keep your pet on a leash or in a carrier, or the fish in the glass. Water can be supplied here but food not because we don’t want to offer anything to your pet what it may not like or can take, but feel free to bring a handful of dry food or treats with you. Actually we recommend some treats. We know accidents can happen and we take any effort to prevent them, in case something goes wrong, there is a cleaning fee of $100. ( We never had anything happen, fingers crossed ).
